Characteristics: As a tradition, annually of Lunar May 5, the Vietnamese people usually hold an insect-killing festival with their belief that diseases always hide themselves in human bodies and only show up on that date. So in the early morning of the day, people eat fruits and fermented sticky rice to kill insects. Some of them also pick up absinth and hang them in front of their houses with the hope that the absinth will help eliminate all diseases. Absinth is one of the pharmaceutical herbs that can cure different ailments, such as headache, stomachache, flu, etc.
