The Buddha’s birthday anniversary: July 7 (lunar May 15)

Time: July 7 (lunar May 15)

Characteristics: Buddha’s birth anniversary is held by the Hinayana (small Vehicle) followers one month later than by the Malayana (big Vehicle) followers. During the anniversary, the Khmer people in Southern Vietnam and Buddhist followers hold many solemn rites day and night. In the day time, they bring rice to pagodas and offer monks, and chant the Buddhist scriptures and at night they continue reciting to praise the merits of Buddha.
