Ten years have passed since the article titled “General Vo Nguyen Giap – A pan-century military marcher”, written by People’s Artist Dao Trong Khanh for Vietnam Pictorial, was published on the occasion of the General’s 90^th birthday in 2001. General Vo Nguyen Giap began his 100th year on August 25, 2010 at the time when the whole country is preparing for the Great Celebration of the 1,000^th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi. On this occasion, Vietnam Pictorial again introduces to readers the article, written by People’s Artist Dao Trong Khanh, about the eminent general of the nation, Vo Nguyen Giap.

On July 20, 2010 the opening ceremony of the 43^rd ASEAN Ministerial Meeting (AMM 43) was held at the National Convention Centre in My Dinh, Hanoi.

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nong Duc Manh paid an official visit to Russia from July 8-12, 2010 at the invitation of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev (D. A. Medvedev). The visit opened up a new stage of development in the traditional friendship and comprehensive co-operation between the two countries.

On June 19, 2010 the 7^th session of the 12^th National Assembly ended successfully after a nearly one-month sitting. During the session the National Assembly wrapped up a huge amount of work, including many issues of special concern.

Since Vietnam’s reunification 35 years ago on April 30^th, 1975 and throughout the untold setbacks brought on  by the heavy consequence of the fierce war that lasted for more than 20 years, Ho Chi Minh City has made great strides in developing and becoming Vietnam's biggest and most dynamic economic hub, and a major socio-cultural centre of the country.
