The joint
venture between Vietnam Shipping Industrial Group (Vinashin) and Lion Group from
Malaysia has just organised the ground-breaking ceremony to build Ca Na
Industrial Zone in Thuong Diem Village, Phuoc Diem Commune, Ninh Phuoc District
of Ninh Thuan Province. This is the largest steel industrial zone in Vietnam.
The project with a total investment capital of nearly 9.8 billion USD has a
designated area of 1,650ha on land and 330ha at sea used in four periods. The
project will build and operate a steel complex, using the technologies of blast
furnace, oxygen-transforming furnace, finery, and hot and cold rolling; the
supporting infrastructure includes an electric power plant and a seaport in
service of the steel complex, creating about 50,000 jobs. The complex’s total
capacity in the four periods is 14.42 million tonnes of crude steel per year and
its main products include hot-rolled steel, cold-rolled steel, steel plates and
plated steel. |
