International Women’s Beach Volleyball Championship

Dao Hong Tuyen, Head
of the Championship-
Organising Board.
The 2nd International Women Beach Volleyball Championship, which was organized recently in Tuan Chau- Ha Long (Quang Ninh Province) with the participation of 14 teams from five countries including China, Thailand, Kazaxtan, Laos and Vietnam, ended successfully.

All the guest teams were very impressive because of their high skills and competing styles. Despite their efforts, teams Vietnam 1 and 2 from Ho Chi Minh City and Tuan Chau failed to win the champion. In the semi-final, the Vietnam 1 was defeated by its rival of Kazaxtan, missing the bronze medal and only ranking fourth while the number-one seed, Kazaztan  with athletes Svetlana and Mila, fell to China 2 with athletes Yue Yuan and Zang Wenwen in the semi-final’s second match.  In the all-China final, both teams battled fiercely but in the end the China 2 won with the score of 2-1 and received the award of USD 2.500. Vietnam 1 ranks fourth and won the prize of best playing style. Athlete Zang Wenwen (China 2) won the MVP title of the tournament.

The tournament will be held every year to help improve competing techniques of domestic athletes and it is a chance to promote tourism of Tuan Chau-Ha Long, according to Dao Hong Tuyen, Head of the Championship’s Organization Board.
