Prof. Tran Van Truong has
devoted his whole life to
the Odonto-Stomotology.
Enthusiastically teaching and instructing
medical
students as well as
Odonto-Stomatology
personnel.
Prof. Tran Van Truong
paying much attention to hare-lip and
open-palate children.
| With his great
contributions to the community and the development of Odonto Stomatology
of both Vietnam and the world, Tran Van Truong is selected by the American
Biography Institute (ABI) as one of the Great Minds of the 21st century.
In addition, he has been appointed one of the 2,000 Outstanding
Intellectuals in the World, and the Figure of 2005 for his participation
in technological and scientific as well as social activities.
“I was
born in Hanoi in 1933 and graduated from Hanoi Medical University in 1962.
Since then I have attached my life to odonto-stomatology”. He added: “In
Vietnam the rate of amphodentosis sufferers is fairly high. Over the 40
years of research into specific dental diseases in Vietnam, we have found
ways to treat effectively many common diseases. Besides, we always update
as well as apply advanced technology in decidious endodontic treatment and
prevention, particularly in surgeries for hare-lip and open-palate
children. At present, there are many Vietnamese children with cleft lips
and open palates”.
Over the
years, Prof. Tran Van Truong and other doctors have operated on thousands
of such children throughout the country, free of charge, especially in
South-western and North-western border regions, bringing beautiful smiles
to them.
Worthy of
note is the School Dental Programme that began ten years ago and has been
implemented almost across the country with Prof. Truong as its manager. So
far, seven provinces and cities have completed the programme and about six
million Vietnamese children enjoy free healthcare. All achievements were
attributed to the great efforts of the Odonto-Stomatology Institute’s
staff in general and Prof. Tran Van Truong in particular.
Over the
past four decades, he has trained many generations of good doctors and
conducted many scientific researches highly praised by the medical circle
at home and abroad. Besides, he has given lectures at both domestic and
overseas universities and cooperated with international health
organizations in research programmes on dental disease
prevention.
He is now
acting as a member of the International Dental Federation (FDI), the
American Dental Institute (ADI) and the International Dental Collaboration
of the Mekong River Region (IDCMR).
