Carnival 2009 was closed with the programme “Night of Meeting Heritages”
on May 2, 2009 on the beautiful Bay of Ha
Long in Ha Long City,
Quang
Ninh
Province
. The event not only aimed
at highlighting the value of Ha Long Bay and calling for tourists to vote
for the heritage site but also introduced the beauty of heritage sites in
Vietnam
to international
friends.
 The “Dance of
Thousand-Year-Old My Son”.
During the
ceremony, both domestic and foreign artistic troupes presented unique
artistic items, such as “Ha Long – The Mysterious Beauty”, “The Dance of
the Thousand-Year-Old My Son”, “Sacred Dragon Bay”, “Luc cung hoa dang"
(six floral lamp worshipping offering dance), “Hue Court Music”, “Space of
Tay Nguyen gong culture”, and the dances of “Vietnamese two-stringed zither”
and “Ha Nhi Drums and Fans”. All created a mysterious and splendid Ha
Long.
Addressing the ceremony, Vice-Chairman of Quang Ninh
Province People’s Committee Nguyen Van Doc clearly stated that
Vietnam
has many cultural
and natural heritage sites recognized by UNESCO as world heritage sites
which are a valuable asset of the Vietnamese nation and a common asset
of humankind. Of them, Ha Long Bay is one of the most unique. To preserve
and promote the valuable assets of Ha Long and help Ha Long become a new
World Wonder, it needs a joint-effort of every Vietnamese individual, the
entire community as well as support from international friends.
At present
a campaign to vote to the selection of new seven World Wonders launched by
the "New 7 Wonders" is in its final stage. Ha Long Bay is Vietnam's only
nomination joining with 261 heritage sites from around the world to
participate in the bidding, therefore there should be a specific
investment strategy to help Ha Long become a new world wonder.
