General Secretary of the
Communist Party of Vietnam Nong Duc Manh paid an official visit to
Russia
from July 8-12, 2010 at
the invitation of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev (D. A.
Medvedev).

 General Secretary Nong Duc Manh led the Vietnamese delegation
to lay a flower basket at President Ho Chi Minh Monument at the capital city of Moscow.

The visit took place at the
time when the two countries were carrying out many significant ceremonies,
such as the 60th anniversary of Vietnam-Russia diplomatic ties,
the 65th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War’s victory and
65th anniversary of
Vietnam
’s
declaration of independence. The visit opened up a new stage of
development in the traditional friendship and comprehensive co-operation
between the two countries.
During
their talks General Secretary Nong Duc Manh and President D. A. Medvedev
exchanged opinions on co-operative issues between the two countries in the
fields of politics, economics, trade, science, technology, technique,
military and humanity, informed each other about the situation of each
country and discussed some urgent international issues.
The two
leaders evaluated the results of comprehensive co-operation between Russia
and Vietnam after nearly ten years since the signing of the Declaration on
Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Russia, emphasized the
determination to continue fostering the traditional friendship and close
co-operation between the two countries, and strengthened
economic-commercial relations, considering it an important part of the
strategic partnership.

During the visit General
Secretary Nong Duc Manh also had talks with the Chairman of the
Council of Federation of the Russian Federation and the Chairman of
A Just Russia Party Sergey Mironov, Speaker of the State Duma of
Russia and Chairman of the Party’s Supreme Council of the United
Russia Party Boris Gryzlov, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov
and Chairman of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation
Gennady Zyuganov.
General Secretary Nong
Duc Manh also laid a wreath at the grave of the unknown soldiers and
the Ho Chi Minh Monument, paid tribute to V. I. Lenin; met with the
staff of professors, lecturers and students of Saint Petersburg
Forestry Technology Institute as well as some of economic and
cultural establishments in Saint Petersburg and visited Zarubezhneft
Joint Stock Petrol Company.
On the occasion,
President D.A. Medvedev awarded General Secretary Nong Duc Manh with
the Puskin Medal, the noble Russian award for great contributions to
the cultural field by the General
Secretary. |
